When you loose your job or get retrenched, you can claim for your UIF contribution from department of Labour.
To apply you must visit your nearest labour centre in person and you should make sure that you are registered as work-seekers and take the necessary documents with you to labour office.
Claiming Unemployment Benefits;
Step 1. Getting documents ready.
- 13-digit bar-coded South African ID or passport;
- Form UI-2.8 for banking details;
- Form UI-19 to show that you are no longer working for your employer; and
- Proof of registration as a work-seeker.
Step 2: Go to the nearest labour centre.
